A few milestones...

So we were in Orlando this weekend...we left Thursday night and just got back into town tonight (Sunday). While we were there, I witnessed two milestones:

1. I saw my first shuttle launch. STS-117 (Atlantis) launched Friday afternoon, and I saw it from about 25 miles away. Even that far away, it was still pretty cool.

We were at Michelle's sister's house when I heard it was on schedule for launch. A few minutes before it went up, we crawled out of her bedroom window onto her roof and we all sat there looking out over the trees. I had Fox in my lap (don't worry there was no danger - the roof was almost flat) and we saw the shuttle take off and watched it until it was out of site. The smoke and flame that thing puts out is tremendous...we were 25 miles away and it was like someone was launching a model rocket next door.

2. Fox stood up by himself. This afternoon while we were playing at Michelle's parent's house, Fox decided he would be brave and stand up. On Friday, he had tried out his cousin's old walker toy. He wasn't too keen on the whole thing because he was so wobbly. But, he kept playing with it until he had it down pat. I'm sure there was some developmental breakthrough or something, I don't know.

Anyway, this afternoon just before we packed up to leave, he let go...and stood there for about a full second before sitting down. By the time we left, he did it twice more. He's eight months old tomorrow, he's not supposed to be walking this early...he still isn't crawling that well. But, he's always liked standing up, so I guess he's skipping the whole crawling thing.

One other weird thing happened...when we got back home we had a live frog in the toilet and a dead one in the shower. How do these things even get into our bathroom?
